3 Vista problems

Postby tomharrish » November 30th, 2009, 1:15 pm

I'm currently facing three chronic Vista problems, so I decided to combine them into one thread.

1. System Restore gives me an incorrect parameter error when I launch it, when I click OK (the only option, it quits). I don't know the exact error message.

2. Windows update gives me error 8007002 when I go and check for updates; all my update history has also been wiped. (The check runs for a while, then stops and gives me 8007002.

3. My internet stops working after resuming from sleep.

Have you got antivirus running on this machine? I only ask because some infections love to target System Restore...

secondly, This problem occurs when some files in the update are missing, even though the update is downloaded and extracted successfully, when referring to receipt of an 80070002 error code.

go to

C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\download\Install (assuming your main hard-drive is C:) and try to install from there

With the no internet after sleep issue, have you tried hibernating> Does that give the same results?

also, Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Edit Plan Settings

Click "Change advanced power settings"

Click the "+" next to Wireless Adapter Settings or if you are using a cable find your Network Card and click the plus sign

Under Power Saving Mode, ensure that the NIC is set to Maximum Performance

That will ensure your NIC does not turn off to conserve energy
