Searching pst files without importing - slow in outlook

Have a client who needs to do searches in .PST files. Opening the file in Outlook 2007 then doing searches is very slow. It also searches the user's mailbox making it even slower.

I guess I could import the PST into a different data file, but that seems like it would be a pain for the user, too.

I assume there's a better, faster way to do this, like some 3rd party app.

Don't know how secure it is but x1 is very fast.
